If you are installing SQList on a virtual machine (e.g. Hyper-V, hosted servers, etc.) you need to be aware that SQList locks the license to a number of hardware identifiers of the machine on which the license is activated.

One of these is the MAC address of the machine.

If the MAC address changes for any reason, SQList will fail to validate the license against the machine and will throw an error ("Your licence is not valid (status: MachineNotRecognised)."). This happens, for example, when the virtual machine is restarted or moved to a new physical server.

To fix the error, simply deactivate your licence and reactivate it right away.

To avoid this issue in the future, ensure that you either:

  1. Deactivate your license, using SQList Manager, before moving/restarting the virtual machine or;
  2. Assign a static MAC address to the virtual machine.
